"The Day I Was Reminded of Pure Happiness"

Traveling is supposed to be about seeing new places, experiencing new cultures, and sometimes pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. But every now and then, you stumble upon a moment that does more than check those boxes, it touches your heart in a way you didn’t see coming. That’s exactly what happened to me when I met these kids. I was exploring a small coastal village, one of those places that feels almost hidden from the world. The air was warm, the water crystal clear, and everything moved a little slower. As I walked along a rickety wooden pier, I noticed a group of children playing near the shore. The second they saw me, they froze, just for a moment, as if deciding whether to be shy or curious. Then, as if on cue, they broke into the brightest smiles I've ever seen, their faces lighting up with pure joy. Some of them giggled and hid behind each other, while others ran right up, clearly excited to meet a stranger. It didn’t matter that we didn’t speak the same language their laughter and smiles were all the conversation we needed. I spent a few minutes with them, sharing smiles and silly faces, snapping a few photos to remember the moment. They loved the attention, and I loved how quickly they accepted me into their world, even if only for a few minutes. As I walked away, I felt this warmth in my chest that no stunning landscape or famous landmark could replicate. Their smiles had a way of breaking down every barrier language, culture, age and reminded me of something we sometimes forget: happiness doesn’t need much. Sometimes, it’s just the simplicity of connection, of sharing a laugh with strangers in a faraway place. Looking back on that day, I realize that these kids taught me more about the joy of traveling than any guidebook ever could. They reminded me that it’s not just about the destinations; it’s about the people you meet, the stories you exchange, and the moments that make you feel connected to the world, one smile at a time.
